The original maker got deployed. The retirement ceremony wasn’t moving. Someone made a phone call, and we had about a week.
The piece was a lifted Dodge truck in a mountain scene with Bigfoot wheeling it — a 3D relief carve in cherry for a Navy Executive Officer heading into retirement after a full career of service. We ran it as a rush, charged shipping only, and sent it off. The recipient’s command handled the finish themselves.
Some commissions are about the work. Some are about showing up when it matters. This one was both.
